The collective bargaining dispute in the public sector now also affects the Munich clinic. The Verdi union has called all five clinics to a warning strike. “We decided to do this at very short notice on Tuesday afternoon,” says Heinrich Birner, Verdi’s managing director for the Munich district and region. Employees have been down from work since 6 a.m. The strike will last until 6 a.m. on Thursday morning. A rally takes place in front of the clinic in Schwabing.

A total of 10.5 percent more salary is being demanded for federal and local employees in the ongoing collective bargaining round. But at least, saysbirr, for the lower salary groups 500 euros more per month. Birner has not yet been able to name a number of how many employees can take part. The occupation in the hospital is so bad that not many people can be expected. Nevertheless, some planned operations were postponed on Tuesday. In any case, emergency care is assured.

There may also be warning strikes at the city daycare centers this Wednesday. The trade unions have called on trainees, interns and students in the state capital of Munich in particular to walk out all day. Since strikes can be spontaneous, the department for education and sport could not say in advance what the extent of the warning strikes will be.

Munich residents are facing significant restrictions in local transport on Thursday and Friday. Because the employees of the Munich transport company are called from Thursday morning 3:30 a.m. to Friday midnight to stop working in buses, subways and trams. The S-Bahn, which is operated by Deutsche Bahn, is not affected. School buses will probably also drive.
