It would be right if Germany supported Ukraine with heavy equipment. Yet the Western role in the war remains an unprecedented balancing act. If only that would finally arrive in the German debate!
It is likely that western armored personnel carriers and battle tanks will soon be delivered to Ukraine. Germany and many of its allies are still hesitating, but at the end of all such discussions – at least in the past seven months of this war – almost without exception a yes was reached. Incidentally, this is also supported by the fact that the possibilities of so-called ring exchange are coming to an end. There is only a manageable amount of material from Soviet production in the NATO countries that can be delivered to the Ukraine and replaced with Western equipment.
