Zelenskyi reports taking dozens of settlements in occupied territories
Notwithstanding the Russian annexation, Ukraine has reported new, significant territorial gains in the areas claimed by Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in the evening that his country’s army had retaken “dozens” of towns from Russia in the past few days. The Ukrainian army is advancing “quickly and powerfully” in the south and east, Zelensky said in his video speech every evening. According to him, some of the recaptured areas belong to the Cherson, Luhansk and Donetsk regions, whose annexation was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

Japan reopens embassy in Kyiv
Japan is reopening its embassy in Kyiv today, according to the Foreign Ministry. The diplomatic mission was temporarily closed on March 2 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
