Mariupol City Council: Another mass grave discovered

According to the administration, another mass grave has been discovered not far from the southern Ukrainian port of Mariupol. The city council posted a satellite photo provided by the US company Planet Labs. It shows a mass grave that could hold the bodies of at least 1,000 residents of Mariupol, it said. It is said to be outside the village of Wynohradne, east of Mariupol. Just this week, the US service Maxar Technologies published satellite photos of more than 200 freshly dug graves in the town of Manhusch. The village is west of Mariupol. Ukrainian officials accused Russia of having buried up to 9,000 civilians there. The discovery of the alleged mass graves fueled suspicion of new atrocities in the Ukraine war.

EU Commission: Russian gas affordable without violating sanctions

According to the EU Commission, EU companies should be able to continue paying for Russian gas without violating European sanctions against Moscow. A spokesman for the authority said with regard to the Russian decree, which provides for ruble payments for gas supplies to the West: “We have carefully analyzed the new decree and are in contact with the authorities of the member states and the energy companies concerned.” Already on Thursday, the EU countries were sent a guide with a view to gas imports.
