Vonovia boss Buch: “Wages have to rise, and noticeably so” – Economy

Many people are afraid of winter. Rolf Buch, head of Europe’s largest landlord Vonovia, reassures: If you don’t pay your rent, you won’t automatically be thrown out of your apartment. Only more money can help against inflation – but not from the state.

When it comes to bureaucracy, Rolf Buch gets lively. Much of what the government is doing right now is well thought out, but done poorly – with consequences for people and the environment, he says. Buch, 57, has a lot to do with both: As head of the Dax group Vonovia, he is the master of around 550,000 apartments, almost 490,000 of them in Germany. Time for a conversation about state aid, real estate prices and trouble with the heat pump.
