Villarreal star Francis Coquelin taunts Bayern again and sees semi-final opponents Liverpool stronger than the German record champions.
Before the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool FC, Villarreal star Francis Coquelin followed up again against Bayern Munich and the German record champions in an interview with the English Guardians accused of lack of humility.
“They lacked a bit of humility,” said the Frenchman after Bayern were defeated by his side in the quarter-finals. “They noticed that in the first leg because we could have scored three or four goals.”
However, Coquelin did not recognize a learning process in Munich in the second leg in the Allianz Arena. “I thought they’d think, ‘Maybe we talked a little too much’. But then they did exactly the same thing. So they didn’t learn their lesson.”
Coquelin: Liverpool stronger than Bayern
Meanwhile, Villarreal “seized all the chances we missed in the first leg (1-0) in the second leg (1-1). We had one and we took it. That’s why they were eliminated.”
According to the 30-year-old, however, an improvement is needed against coach Jürgen Klopp’s team, because “I think Liverpool is stronger than Bayern. We have to take our chances because they can punish you in two minutes. They’re really good right now on it.”
