They should become: Green ministers in spe

In a power struggle among the Greens for ministerial posts in the federal government, there have recently been winners and losers. But in the end, the federal executive made a unanimous decision, said federal manager Michael Kellner on Thursday. Above all, the former party leader Cem Özdemir prevailed against parliamentary group leader Anton Hofreiter. Hofreiter himself did not want to comment on this on the sidelines of a federal-state forum of the Greens. Özdemir is to become Minister of Agriculture. So the parliamentary group chairmen Hofreiter and Katrin Göring-Eckardt go away empty-handed. The realpolitician Özdemir had the support of the party chairmen Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck. Anne Spiegel from Rhineland-Palatinate is scheduled for the Ministry of Family Affairs. She is considered a left party. The fifth post should go to Steffi Lemke as Environment Minister. The Greens would then have three women and two men in the new cabinet. The battle for ministerial posts meant that the start of the strike vote was postponed. Because the online-supported ballot now begins through the power struggle behind the scenes on Friday and thus one day later than planned. The approximately 125,000 members are expected to approve the coalition agreement and the personnel table in the next ten days. The strike vote should end on December 6th with the announcement of the results.
