Up to 200 kilos in the air

This is what cargo transport could look like in the future, say those responsible at Volocopter and DB Schenker. On Tuesday, their heavy-duty drone completed its first public test flight. In Hamburg it went up to 22 meters in the air for three minutes. According to the makers, the VoloDrone is an unmanned, fully electric cargo drone that can transport ISO pallets with a weight of up to 200 kilograms. And that over a range of 40 kilometers. In the future, the drone should be able to fly autonomously outside the pilot’s range of vision and be used where conventional transport options reach their limits.
