STORY: Even after the US polling stations are closed, the race for Congress remains a nail-biter for President Joe Biden. As expected, his Democrats had to put up with a few defeats. The bottom line is that on Wednesday night it was not yet possible to say whether the Republicans, who started the vote as favorites, managed to take control of Parliament. In addition to all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate, Tuesday’s elections included 36 governorships and thousands of other state and local political offices. The focus was on Florida, among other places. Republican Ron DeSantis was reelected governor there. He is considered a potential rival to Trump when it comes to the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election. Like Biden, Trump did not stand for election on Tuesday.
