The “Royal Highness” is gone
The British royal family has surprisingly stripped Prince Andrew of his military titles and ruled that he must sever all ties to royal charities. Andrew will also have to do without the salutation “His Royal Highness”. The measures come a day after Andrew’s attorneys failed to persuade a US judge to dismiss a civil lawsuit alleging child sex abuse. In the process, Andrew will now have to defend himself as a private citizen, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday. The decision on Andrew is said to have been made after extensive discussions within the royal family, according to a source. His internal tasks should therefore be redistributed to other family members. Andrew’s case could go to court by the fall if no agreement is reached before then.
