The hostage situation in a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas has ended. All hostages were released on Saturday evening after more than 10 hours. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott wrote on Twitter: “Prayers answered. All hostages are alive and safe.” Local reporters reported hearing gunshots and explosions earlier. It may have been stun grenades. According to media reports, an armed man took four hostages during a service at the synagogue in Colleyville, a Dallas-Fort Worth suburb. The hostage-taker demanded that a Pakistani neuroscientist imprisoned in the United States be released. She was found guilty of shooting soldiers and FBI agents in 2010 and is serving an 86-year prison sentence near Fort Worth.
