Steinmeier visits “House of the Wannsee Conference”
High-ranking representatives of the National Socialist regime met here 80 years ago to organize the murder of millions of Jews. That was on January 20, 1942, in the villa on the Großer Wannsee. The former guest house of the SS is now a memorial and educational site. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender visited the “House of the Wannsee Conference” on Tuesday to mark the anniversary. After a tour of the permanent exhibition, Steinmeier met young civil servants for a discussion about historical responsibility.
