In New Zealand’s capital Wellington, thousands of people took to the streets on Tuesday to demonstrate against compulsory vaccination and corona restrictions. There were strict security precautions in front of the parliament building. O-TON DEMONSTRANT: “I’m here for freedom. What the government is doing is completely against freedom. I think it is immoral to force people to do something that cannot be undone. That goes against everything, what I know and believe. ” O-TON DEMONSTRANT: “I want my freedom back. If they keep doing this shit, it won’t end well for anyone, it’s that simple.” Since the delta variant came to the archipelago, the number of infections has skyrocketed here too. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern then called for mandatory vaccinations for teachers, carers and doctors. She said that only when 90 percent of people are vaccinated can the restrictions on public life be lifted.
