New allegations against Amazon

A marketplace where everything can be bought and which also gives other retailers fair access – this is how Amazon likes to present itself. A new data analysis by the Reuters news agency shows that this picture is not true. Internal documents, emails and strategy papers available to Reuters show that the US company is systematically copying products from other manufacturers in order to sell them as private labels. In addition, the group manipulates the search results in India in order to place its own products more prominently. The research confirms allegations that others have already made against the company. Amazon rejected the results of the Reuters research, saying they were baseless and factually wrong. The global retail giant has been criticized for a long time. There are always reports of how Amazon circumvents tax payments and exploits its employees. The group is being investigated in several countries for unfair trading practices and competition violations. Reuters research could now give further impetus to calls for stronger regulation.
