Video: Musk: “Just because I tweet something doesn’t mean people believe it”

STORY: Tesla CEO Elon Musk on the witness stand in San Francisco on Friday. The case concerns Musk’s tweets in the summer of 2018. At that time, the 51-year-old announced that he would take Tesla private. Funding for this has been secured. It later turned out, however, that there were no firm commitments from investors. That’s what investors are basing their class action lawsuit against Musk and Tesla’s board of directors on. The false tweets triggered price swings that caused them to lose money, they argue. On Friday, the multi-billionaire appeared in court in person and tried to question the influence of his tweets. “Just because I tweet something doesn’t mean people will believe it or act accordingly,” the 51-year-old said at the survey, according to media reports. However, the questioning of Elon Musk by the plaintiff’s lawyer was short on Friday: the court adjourned until Monday around half an hour after it began.
