Video: Green Week wants to be even greener

STORY: Preparations for the International Green Week are in full swing in the exhibition halls under the Berlin radio tower. The anticipation among the exhibitors and participants could not be greater, because after two years of a forced break due to corona, the big agricultural and food show can finally take place again. Joachim Rukwied, President of the German Farmers’ Association: “We are really looking forward to the International Green Week in attendance, we finally have the opportunity again to exchange ideas with consumers on site, to show how sustainably we produce our food here in create Germany. We also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with politicians, to discuss future issues: ‘How can we secure food? How can we protect the climate and preserve biodiversity at the same time?’ We will do all of this at the Green Week, also supported by 100 agricultural scouts and many farmers. I’m really looking forward to interacting with consumers.” The project manager of the Green Week is also clearly looking forward to the upcoming trade fair. Lars Jaeger, Green Week project manager: “First of all, I think the very clear focus is on us all being happy that the International Green Week is finally taking place again. It was two sad years. However, we also have to realize that the Green Week looks a bit different than, as I said, in 2020. We are a bit more compact and have rented three fewer halls. This is perhaps also due to the fact that we no longer have the Russians there as exhibitors, who were also the largest foreign exhibitors with 3,000 square meters.” But popular events are still part of the programme: there is a flower hall and a new animal hall. And 12 federal states will be represented. And there are also 60 international participations. The bottom line is that the organizers are already happy about a great success and that they can start again after a long break. The world’s largest trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture will take place in Berlin from January 20th to 29th.
