Video: Federal government secures funding for “Deutschlandticket”

STORY: Travel back and forth through Germany with local transport for 49 euros a month. This should be possible from May 1st. The so-called Deutschlandticket is intended as a successor to the 9-euro ticket from last summer. Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing from the FDP spoke on Wednesday of a “huge reform”. “We are thus overcoming complex tariff structures, we are introducing digitization in public transport across Germany. Public transport is going digital and can therefore be planned more transparently and precisely in the future. We are creating the entry into intermodal mobility. People in rural areas in particular benefit from Germany -Ticket.” According to the cabinet decision, the federal government wants to secure the financing for the Deutschlandticket until 2025, with 1.5 billion euros per year. The same amount should be made available by the federal states. However, the draft law makes it clear that the price of 49 euros will not have to remain the same in the coming years. There is talk of “an introductory price of 49 euros per month with a monthly subscription”. The EU Commission has not yet approved the Deutschlandticket.
