STORY: The future of Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov is unclear. A confidant of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Monday revised his statements from the day before that Reznikov should be deposed. A cabinet reshuffle is not imminent, wrote the faction leader of Zelenskyj’s party Servants of the People on the messenger service Telegram. On Sunday he had said that Resnikov should be replaced by the head of the military intelligence service, Kyrylo Budanov, as head of the defense ministry and become minister for strategic industries. When the change should come into force, he left open. Resnikov said on Sunday he had not been informed of such a move. If he is offered the post of Minister for Strategic Industries, he will turn it down. Reznikov is under pressure because of a corruption scandal. Among other things, the Ministry of Defense is said to have bought food for soldiers at inflated prices. An investigation was launched, numerous politicians – including a deputy Resnikov – lost their posts. Resnikov himself was not publicly accused. There was no official statement, Selenskyj has not yet commented on the personnel.
