Video: Coalition committee wants to continue deliberations

STORY: The traffic light coalition wants to continue its negotiations in the coalition committee in Berlin on Tuesday. After almost 20 hours of negotiations, the SPD, Greens and FDP announced on Monday afternoon that the consultations had been interrupted and adjourned to Tuesday. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) spoke of “very good” progress, without giving any details. The leaders of the traffic light parties had been advising in the Chancellery since Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. The main focus should be on accelerating the planning of infrastructure projects and on greater climate protection. The planned end for the installation of new gas and oil heating systems from 2024 should also be discussed. The first traffic light coalition in the federal government was recently in a difficult phase. Numerous projects did not progress because there was no agreement within the government. Opposition leader Friedrich Merz accused the government of repeatedly blocking each other.
