Video: Camilla hands out Paddington Bears

STORY: New homes for dozens of Paddington bears: Camilla, the wife of British King Charles III, gave the soft toys to a children’s charity. They were laid across the country with flowers and other items in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II in September. The royal connection to Paddington dates back to a June video showing the then-monarch having tea with the children’s book character. It was one of the highlights of the four-day celebrations marking her 70th jubilee. On Thursday, Camilla distributed some of the more than 1,000 soft toys, which had previously been professionally cleaned and prepared, to children in a social facility in London. She also took part in a picnic with the children, accompanied by actors from the recent Paddington films. “Paddington Bear” is the main character of a children’s book series by British author Michael Bond. With a hat, coat and a penchant for jam toast, Paddington has been a crowd favorite in Britain since 1958.
