The discounted transition ticket for public transport in Berlin can now be bought in the capital. For 29 euros each, you can use the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, regional train and bus within the Berlin city limits. The Berlin Senate wants to use this to bridge the time until a nationwide decision is made on a connection solution for the nine-euro ticket. However, you cannot buy the ticket directly from the machine. Instead, a subscription is required that can be canceled at the end of the year. There had been criticism of this rule. Giffey said: “We have checked what is technically possible. And we have to take into account that the 9-euro ticket was financed by the federal government and had certain requirements. We can only implement it legally and organizationally if we have a subscription do it. That was the path that made it possible. And that’s why we took it.” For everyone who already has a subscription for the AB tariff zone, the price reduction to 29 euros will automatically take place via credit or billing, according to the traffic administration. A cross-state offer with Brandenburg did not come about.
