Rafael Nadal has won the Australian Open for the second time. This makes him the sole record winner in the four Grand Slam tournaments. The Spanish tennis pro turned the Melbourne final after a 2-0 set deficit and won 2-6, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 against the Russian US Open winner Daniel Medvedev.

13 years after his first title at the Australian Open, the 35-year-old secured his 21st Grand Slam success after 5:24 hours.

Nadal now leads in these statistics ahead of Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic and Swiss Roger Federer. After a long injury break last year, the Spaniard came back strongly and succeeded Djokovic, who was not allowed to take part in the Australian Open because his visa was cancelled.
