Victorious at Sale, Stade Toulousain already qualified for the round of 16

Even before the last group day, Stade Toulousain is guaranteed to play in the round of 16 of Champions Cup, April 1 or 2. This Saturday, the Reds and Blacks won their third game in three rounds. After Ulster in Ireland (13-18) and Sale at home (45-19), they won this Saturday in England with the Sharks (5-27).

The leaders of the Top 14, who remained on a severe defeat in the league in La Rochelle (30-7), did not shine in the suburbs of Manchester. Very quickly trailing 5-0, they “benefited” from the expulsion of the second row opponent Jacobus Wiese in the 19th minute. The South African took a direct red card for a dangerous clearing on the Toulouse pillar Dorian Aldegheri, victim of a shoulder blow to the head.

Another game against Ulster

The quadruple winners of the event (1996, 2003, 2010, 2021) ended up making the difference thanks to the boot of Melvin Jaminet and two late tries from the 2nd row Emmanuel Meafouelected man of the match (70th), then replacement hooker Guillaume Cramont (72nd).

Now, Stade Toulousain is aiming for a new victory on Sunday January 22 against Ulster in its lair of Ernest-Wallon, to secure an 8th final at home.
