Bang in the Swedish royal family: Crown Princess Victoria and husband Prince Daniel publicly comment on rumors of divorce.
On June 19, 2010, Crown Princess Victoria and commoner Daniel Westling celebrated their dream wedding. It was as much a happy ending for the future Queen of Sweden and her former fitness trainer as it was the start of a happy life together. The couple had two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.
But for a few weeks, rumors of a separation have been circulating in the Swedish media. Now the royal family was apparently under so much pressure that it published a statement on Instagram on Saturday (February 19).
It says: “We are aware that an extensive negative rumor is being spread about our private relationship. Allegations of betrayal in the relationship and an impending divorce are making the rounds. We do not normally comment on rumors and speculation. But to protect our family , we want to make it clear once and for all that the rumors that are now spreading are completely unfounded.”
Swedish Court: Statement on false divorce rumors about Victoria and Daniel was “necessary”
Court spokeswoman Margaretha Thorgren told the Swedish website svenskdam.se that it was “necessary” to speak out publicly. The entire royal family became aware of the rumors and the statement was agreed with the royal couple, Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf. Now let’s hope the spread of false information stops.
