Victoria: After this series you see Upper Franconia with different eyes – Bavaria

Upper Franconia are not known for their exuberant ego. That could change with the consumption of Arte at the moment. In “Victoria” the life story of the legendary queen is described – and it’s about: Coburg, Coburg, Coburg.

A quieter television time is now beginning and that also for those who just wanted to quickly check in the evening what exactly they are actually boycotting, so purely Qatar-like. So what could be more obvious than a look at the Arte media library? At this point, it can be recommended to everyone, first of all Upper Franconia.

You will be able to say a lot of good things about them, but not an ego hardened against adversity. Good reason: the state elections are coming up soon, and then the media world will take a closer look at the not so hyper-successful corners of Bavaria – isn’t there also emigration, even company failure? – and you can look forward to all sorts of pretty regional portraits in Upper Franconia, preferably from the former Iron Curtain.

There, enjoying Arte can currently be recommended almost as a recipe. However, you should hurry up a bit. Although the series “Victoria” is still available until New Year’s Eve, you should have a good 20 hours ready for the 25 parts in three seasons.

Victoria? That’s right, that’s the legendary queen after whom an entire age was named, which not everyone can say about themselves. When her life story was broadcast on the island, streets there are said to have been significantly emptier than usual. And Coburg’s city guides have also been busy since then.

Why? A counter would be helpful to record the appearance of a word native to Franconian. There’s a lot about world politics in this series, it has to be when it’s about a lady in whose era the British Empire experienced its political, cultural and economic peak. In between, however, one hears again and again: Coburg. Coburg. Coburg.

Victoria’s relatives come from there. The fact that this is sometimes hunchbacked German in a British production is a gift. But her cousin Albert from Schloss Rosenau in the Coburg region is a lovely (if not under-complex) fellow, a Franconian young manespecially at marriageable age.

And to make it short: You will see this – wow – Upper Franconia with different eyes after the series consumption. And maybe make your way to Rosenau Castle over Christmas. Victoria, the real one, gushed about it: “If I weren’t what I am, I would have my real home here.” In Upper Franconia!
