It’s a good thing that there was Mario Götze among all the angry spectators, scolding officials and excited minds. Instead of mocking the wrong decision as the next person involved, the world champion took his two-year-old son Rome in his arms after the game between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund (1: 2) to stroll across the lawn again. His relaxed final round did not fit the general culture of outrage, but conveyed a pleasant distance to an exciting football evening, on which afterwards there was once again too little talk about excellent kickers like Götze, 30, who belongs in the World Cup squad in this condition, but about Referee Sascha Stegemann, who with video assistant Robert Kampka did not deliver the first negative example of how the interaction between the referee and VAR should not work.
