More than 100 million people have received at least one injection of the Covid-19 vaccine in the United States, and those already fully vaccinated can travel again without risk, US health authorities estimated on Friday, a further sign of a progressive renewed activity in the United States, where jobs flourished in March.

Of these 100 million people, nearly 58 million (about one in five adults) are fully vaccinated, that is to say have received the necessary injection or two, depending on the anti-Covid vaccine used.

No quarantine for vaccinated travelers in the United States

However, they will have to continue to take precautions when traveling, by wearing a mask and respecting physical distancing, stressed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the main US federal public health agency, in the update of their recommendations.

For travel within the United States, no quarantine or testing for Covid-19 is no longer necessary for those fully vaccinated, the CDC said.

On the other hand, for international travel, they will always have to produce a negative test before boarding their plane to return to the United States, and it remains recommended that they be tested again three to five days after their return.

A breath of “hope” for Biden

Thanks to this vigorous vaccination campaign and the easing of restrictions in many states, the recovery is gradually taking hold: 916,000 jobs were created in March, particularly in the leisure, hotel and hospitality sectors. restoration, the very ones that had been overthrown a year ago by the pandemic. US President Joe Biden greeted a breath of “hope”, while calling not to “lower our guard” in the face of Covid-19.

Because the United States is engaged in a race against time to immunize its population as quickly as possible, while the number of daily cases begins to rise (62,000 new infections on average each day).

Over the past week, an average of 2.9 million injections of one of the three vaccines authorized in the country were given each day. “It’s an unprecedented pace,” said Jeff Zients, the coordinator of the fight against Covid-19 for the White House. “No other country vaccinates so many people so quickly.”

Joe Biden has pledged that 90% of adults will be eligible for the vaccine by April 19, and announced the goal of 200 million injections by the 100th day of taking office.
