The Chancellor flies to Washington for talks with US President Biden. No fanfare, no press. In principle, it could be – for Ukraine, the alliance, the relationship between the two.

Olaf Scholz has an appointment with Joe Biden this Friday. To do this, he crosses the Atlantic. There is no other item on the agenda, the press will probably not be informed afterwards, they won’t even be traveling with us. A spokesman explains that they want to “simply keep the organization lean”. The circumstances of Chancellor Scholz’s second visit to the White House are special – but those are the times too.
