It is still unclear whether ex-US President Trump will run again. But the strategic preparations for a comeback are underway – and he is ready to donate.

As a businessman, Donald Trump knows his way around numbers. Accordingly, he should find exhilarating what is currently being quantified for him. In a recent poll by the polling firm YouGov, 82 percent of all Republicans said they had a high opinion of Trump – just under two-thirds, 62 percent, said they had a very high opinion.

This is also reflected in their willingness to donate: A record 100 million dollars have accumulated in Trump’s war chest. Money that Trump uses specifically to support loyal party friends in the ongoing primary campaigns.

The most recent example: In Ohio, a career changer who was extremely close to Trump, Mike Carey, prevailed against ten other Republican candidates. Recommended and financed by Trump for election, he will now stand in the midterm parliamentary elections next year.

He supported Trump when he declared war on the political establishment, said Carey, a coal lobbyist with no previous political experience, in an election campaign spot. He had received $ 350,000 from Trump’s war chest.

A win-win situation: Carey supports Trump – and Trump supports Carey.

The tale of the stolen election draws

The ex-president has a long-term and a short-term goal: in the coming year, the majority in Congress will tilt in favor of the Republicans, with the help of Trump supporters. And before that, backing up those in the party who spread the myth of the allegedly stolen election – up and down the country.

Trump himself has been on tour again for weeks: at public appearances that resemble his election campaign events, he can be celebrated and cheered. And spreads the myth that he is the real election winner.

“We won the presidential election twice, in 2016 and 2020,” Trump assures his supporters, “and we may win it a third time, in 2024!” – “Trump won, Trump won …” the crowd chants. Wherever Trump appears and attracts tens of thousands, his unsubstantiated election lie is believed.

Anyone who spreads the myth will be encouraged

The myth of the election winner Trump is now spreading across the country by an astonishing number of candidates. Which is worth it, because they can be financed from Trump’s war chest. The journalist Jonathan Carl, who has authored several books on Trump’s reign, is amazed at how the elected knows how to collect donations and use them skilfully.

“The sums are breathtaking,” marveled Carl, “for a president who was voted out of office and who also left office under such dramatic circumstances.” For the journalist, it is almost certain that Trump wants to run again in 2024.
