Up to “one in two trains” penalized in certain regions, according to Clément Beaune

It is precise. While the RATP published initial forecasts on Sunday evening, the strike scheduled for Tuesday risks generating “strong disturbances” at the SNCF according to the Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune. “There are lines that may be affected” with up to “one in two trains” concerned, he said on France Inter.

Contacted by AFP, the SNCF did not confirm or deny this information from the minister, referring to the publication of its estimates at the end of the afternoon. Like Clément Beaune, she nevertheless insists on the fact that the strike will affect trains differently depending on the region.

The TGV “probably” less affected

“No doubt that the TGV will be less affected,” said the minister, adding that “the French, who can shift [leurs déplacements, NDLR] or get organized […] anticipate”. At the RATP, where employees are also called to strike, Clément Beaune hopes for “normal traffic” in the metro and “one in three buses” in Île-de-France.

The strike call was launched on Thursday by the CGT, the first representative union at SNCF, and SUD-Rail, the third, to demand wage increases and protest against requisitions in the energy sector, while other sectors could mobilize that day. Truck drivers will join the movement in particular.
