up to eight years in prison for dealers who sold on Snapchat

In June 2020, a vast anti-drug operation resulted in the arrest of 16 people in Toulouse and in the Var town of Saint-Tropez. This network managed a vast drug trafficking organized from the popular district of Izards, north of the Pink City, and which generated thousands of euros every day.

This Friday, seven men were sentenced in connection with this case to sentences ranging from two to eight years in prison for drug trafficking, possession of weapons and criminal association.

The other defendants received sentences of 30 months in prison to six months suspended. According to the prosecution, this highly structured network marketed cannabis, cocaine and other synthetic drugs via the Snapchat social network. Hundreds of kilos had thus been sold over several months.

90,000 euros seized

During the searches, several firearms and around fifty kilos of drugs were seized, as well as nearly 90,000 euros in cash. A series of settling of accounts had affected Toulouse following the dismantling of this traffic, launching a turf war, which had notably resulted in a shooting at the Izards in August 2020, where a man had been shot dead and two others wounded.
