Unterschlussheim – Carnival 2022 falls largely flat due to the corona – Munich district

The hope for a reasonably normal, happy carnival season has now been shattered in Unterschleißheim. Due to Corona, the Unterschleißheim-Lohhofer Faschingsclub (UFC) has canceled events such as the children’s masked ball and the women’s carnival in the community center until further notice. In November, the UFC proclaimed the child prince couple Rebecca I. and Ludwig I. and the prince couple Angela I. and Sebastian II. on the town hall square. Now it is certain: They will have to wait a year before their coronation. However, UFC chairman Thomas Schweissgut continues to hope that there will be an opportunity during the long carnival season until March to let one or the other event take place outside.

Concepts for outdoor events would be developed. Actions such as “Carnival in the Box” last year, when members put streamers, clown noses and carnival music in packages and sent them to kindergartens and residents of the senior center in Valentinspark, are also remembered. “It would have been great if we could have presented what our groups had rehearsed to our audience,” says Schweissgut about the cancellation. “But we also see that the current corona situation does not allow us to celebrate carnival as we know it on the one hand and still fight globally with a virus on the other hand, which is unlikely to disappear anytime soon will.”
