Unterhaching: Glider makes an unscheduled landing in a rapeseed field – Munich

A glider made an unscheduled landing in a rapeseed field in Unterhaching on Sunday afternoon. The 37-year-old pilot was unable to climb out of the cockpit on his own; he was taken to hospital with suspected back injuries. The scene of the accident is on a strip of farmland between Oberweg and the A8 motorway. According to police, the man had taken off in his motor glider in Königsdorf (Bad Tölz district). On the way, the thermals apparently suddenly broke off, so that he was forced to make an off-airport landing at around 5:15 p.m. This is the technical term for any landing outside of an airport. The pilot managed to land his glider on the ground with little or no external damage.
