In Freiberg, Saxony, researchers have produced 15,000 liters of synthetic petrol (e-fuel) that can be used in vehicles with combustion engines. The fuel produced from bio-methanol was obtained in the test facility of the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg and can replace conventional fossil fuel directly or be mixed with it, the university explained on Thursday. In an industrial plant, production costs of less than one euro per liter could already be achieved today.
