An advisory body to the US FDA has spoken out in favor of emergency approval of the corona vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer for children between the ages of five and eleven. That was decided by the members of the panel at a meeting on Tuesday. The decision is not binding, but the FDA usually follows the experts. A final FDA decision is expected later this week. The CDC health authority then has to deal with it formally. According to the White House, a vaccination campaign for the 28 million affected children in the USA could start as early as November. The government will deliver 15 million doses of vaccine to paediatricians, clinics and pharmacies within a few days of approval. The German company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer have also applied for approval of their corona vaccine for children of this age group in Europe.
