Union blocks whistleblower law – Opinion

The Union first overslept setting up protection for whistleblowers, now they are blocking a law to do so. This shows that many have not yet recognized the value of whistleblowers.

Edward Snowden was a whistleblower, Chelsea Manning should not be missing from the list and a whistleblower also played a crucial role in the Wirecard scandal. When something goes wrong, they usually play an important role: whistleblowers. They are the ones who denounce grievances in companies and make misconduct public. Without them, global scandals would not have come to light, and they deserve respect for that. But no matter how heroic their efforts are, such whistleblowers are still treated badly to this day. Anyone who opposes their own company still has to expect reprisals, bullying and dismissal – also and especially in Germany.
