  • 3.8 million job seekers were registered in category A at Pôle Emploi in the first quarter.
  • This represents a decrease of 0.4% compared to the end of 2020, but an increase of 6.3% compared to the beginning of 2020.
  • Including people in reduced activity, the number of job seekers reaches six million.

Stabilization of unemployment at a high level. La Dares, the statistical service of the Ministry of Labor, published on Tuesday the number of people registered with Pôle Emploi in the first quarter of 2021. “In France (including the overseas departments-regions, excluding Mayotte), the number job seekers amounted to 3,800,700 for category A. It fell by 0.4% over the quarter, ”notes the press release. Nevertheless, over one year, the number of job seekers in category A increased by 6.3%.

By including people with reduced activity (categories B and C) and required to look for a job, the evolution is almost similar. “For categories A, B, C this number [de demandeurs] stands at 6,012,600 [début 2021]. It was stable over this quarter and grew by 4.7% over one year, ”indicates the Dares.
