Unemployment remained stable in August

So far so good. As clouds gather over the global economy, the number of Category A unemployed remained virtually flat in August compared to the previous month, with 100 fewer jobseekers to 3.185 million, according to figures from the Ministry of Labor. Work published Tuesday.

Including reduced activity (categories B and C), the number of job seekers in France (excluding Mayotte) is up slightly by 0.2% (+13,400) and stands at 5.447 million, according to the service. Statistics from the Ministry of Labor (Dares).

Rise among young people

Over one year, the fall in category A is -10.4%. For categories A, B and C, it is -6.9%. While the number of job seekers in category A remained stable in August, it increased among young people under 25 (+2.2%, or +8,700), falling in the other age groups.

The latest quarterly results published at the end of July showed a slight drop in the number of unemployed (-0.8%) in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter. Including reduced activity (categories B and C), the number of job seekers fell by 1.7% in the second quarter.
