Stormy times for Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic? After the FCB bankruptcy against Leipzig, their future could be at stake in a season without a title.

Munich – This statement could have an aftermath for Oliver Kahn after FC Bayern’s defeat against RB Leipzig. “We saw our goals as endangered,” the manager of the record champions justified the controversial dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann.

After the elimination against Manchester City in the Champions League, the loss against SC Freiburg in the DFB Cup and the setback in the race for the championship, turbulent days are looming for the former world-class goalkeeper. But Hasan Salihamidzic should not be spared unpleasant questions if FC Bayern ends the season without a title instead of the hoped-for treble.

After the debacle in the master race: Kahn and Brazzo face unpleasant weeks

For the DFB record national player Lothar Matthäus, who dismantled the Tuchel squad after the bankruptcy, it is already clear after the debacle of FC Bayern against RB Leipzig that CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic have to reckon with an uncomfortable season analysis. “I do believe that it will be a conversation where both are viewed very critically. Whether one, two or none at all, I can’t decide. I’m not in the heads of the decision-makers,” said Matthäus in his role as a Sky expert after Munich’s 1: 3 against RB Leipzig.

“It’s definitely not a nice day auditioning there and putting everything on the table, turning every stone. A lot can be found under the stone that doesn’t speak for Oliver or Hasan,” Matthäus continued after FC Bayern’s desolate performance.

Season without a title for FC Bayern: Matthäus on Kahn’s and Brazzo’s future with the record champions

When asked whether the two responsible persons should be worried about the future at Bayern, Matthäus added: “If I’m attached to the job, then definitely. I think Hasan and Oliver are very attached to the job.” On May 30th, after the last Bundesliga match day, the supervisory board of the record German soccer champions met. Should Borussia Dortmund win both of their games, a titleless year would be perfect for FC Bayern Munich.

However, Salihamidzic emphasized that all decisions were made together “to the best of our knowledge and belief for FC Bayern”. “I do my job 24/7 and always try the best. When you see what kind of team we had before the season and the team might not win a title, it’s surprising for me too.”

Brazzo on a season without a title at FC Bayern: “Tuchel is doing a good job”

The decision to separate from Julian Nagelsmann was necessary. “We looked at it for a long time and were of the opinion that it had to be done,” said the long-time Bayern professional about Nagelsmann’s departure and the signing of Tuchel, who was furious because of the FCB team’s performance after the bankruptcy against Leipzig.

The bottom line is that one could perhaps say that it did not work, but Thomas Tuchel is doing a good job. “Thomas Tuchel needs to prepare with the team, then everything will go better,” said Brazzo confidently. But then Kahn and Salihamidzic could only be able to follow the action from the stands – as private individuals. (With material from the dpa)
