Goodbye Mrs. Hudson. British actress Una Stubbs, face of the small screen, died Thursday August 12 at the age of 84, the BBC reported.
According to her agent, the actress had been ill for several months. She died at her home in Edinburgh, Scotland, surrounded by her family. “Mom passed away peacefully today with her family,” her sons Joe and Christian Henson and Jason Gilmore announced in a statement.
Proud of a fifty-year career, Una Stubbs notably played in the film Summer holiday, in 1963, then in the series Till Death Us Do Part, Worzel Gummidge, In Sickness and in Health. She was also known for her role as landlady Madame Hudson in the series Sherlock, alongside Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch.

His disappearance has moved many of his former partners on screen, starting with Benedict Cumberbatch. “Una was a wonderful, talented, elegant, sweet, cheerful and honest friend. It was a pleasure to work alongside her, to laugh with her and to make her laugh. She was so humble and yet so wonderful. She lit up the room and everyone who had the chance to know her will be dearly missed, ”he said in Hello magazine.
Sherlock co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss also paid tribute to “the most beautiful light on Baker Street… (…) It was the irreplaceable heart and soul of Sherlock”. They greet a “wonderful” woman, “an actress full of grace”.
It was one of the great joys of my life to work so closely with and to adore Una Stubbs. She was a wonderful, wonderful woman and a great and serenely graceful actor. Mischief was in her blood. We were so blessed that she became our imperishable Mrs Hudson. Goodbye, darling. ❤️
