Report: Abramovich received handwritten message from Zelenskyj to Putin – who reacted angrily

Roman Abramovich is said to have received a message from Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to Vladimir Putin. According to the Times, however, the Russian president reacted dismissively.
The war in Ukraine has been going on for more than a month and a peaceful solution is still not in sight. Russian President Vladimir Putin still shows no signs of withdrawing his troops, and talks between delegations from both sides have remained fruitless. Earlier this month, Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich also took part in negotiations in Kyiv.
According to a report in the British Times, Abramovich received a handwritten message from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In it, Selenskyj is said to have named his conditions for a peace with Russia. The report does not explain what the exact conditions are. At a meeting in Moscow, Abramovich handed the note to Putin. According to the Times, however, he brusquely refused: “Tell him I will destroy them.”

Abramovich was also present at the new round of Russian-Ukrainian peace talks in Istanbul. However, the entrepreneur is not an official member of the Russian delegation, but should ensure “certain contacts” between the two sides, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Zelenskyy said that Russian entrepreneurs had offered to help Ukraine in order to avoid sanctions. According to the US newspaper “Wall Street Journal” (WSJ), the Ukrainian president has asked the United States not to impose sanctions on Abramovich.

Earlier there had been reports that Abramovich and members of the Ukrainian delegation might have been poisoned. According to the “WSJ”, Abramovich and the Ukrainians showed “symptoms of suspected poisoning” after a meeting in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv this month. The three men suffered from red eyes, painful tears and peeling skin on their faces and hands. The symptoms would then have decreased again.
Ukraine denies rumors of poisoning
However, the Ukrainian side rejected such reports. All members of the negotiating groups are working normally, Ukrainian negotiator Mykhailo Podoliak said. Abramovich himself has not made any public statements about a possible poison attack. The Kremlin has described the reports of alleged poisoning as part of an “information war”. The New York Times wrote on Tuesday that Abramovich’s case appeared to be ordinary food poisoning.
