Ukraine News: NATO Secretary General Rutte – Don’t worry about Trump’s presidency – Politics

NATO Secretary General Rutte is calm about Trump’s possible election

What will happen to Ukraine if Donald Trump becomes the new US President? With his statements, the Republican has repeatedly raised doubts as to whether the USA will continue to support Ukraine under his leadership as it has done so far. The new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is nevertheless calm. “Stop worrying about a Trump presidency,” Rutte told reporters in London after talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The NATO Secretary General said he knows Trump well and knows that he understands exactly what the Ukrainians’ fight against the Russian war of aggression is about. “I know he fully understands and agrees with me that this fight in Ukraine is not just about Ukraine. It is also about the security and future security of the United States,” said Rutte about the Republican presidential candidate.

Asked if he wasn’t worried that Trump might cut off support for Ukraine, he said: “I’m not worried about that because I’m completely convinced that the United States is on board.” The United States would be less certain if Russian President Vladimir Putin were successful in Ukraine.
