According to the authorities, at least 20 people were killed and 73 people injured in a Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. The search for survivors continues.

After the devastating Russian rocket attack on a residential building in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, the number of dead has risen to 20, according to official figures. By Sunday morning, 73 injured people had been rescued from the rubble of the partly collapsed skyscraper – including 14 children, the Ukrainian civil defense reported on Telegram. A 15-year-old girl was among the dead, it said. The search for missing persons continues.

Intermittent air alert throughout Ukraine

The Russian projectile hit the house on Saturday. Hours after the impact, cries for help from buried residents could be heard from the rubble. Helpers pulled people out of the rubble of the partially collapsed house. According to emergency services, 72 apartments were destroyed. A total of between 100 and 200 people were reported in the house.

The attack on Dnipro, in the central Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk, was the most momentous of several attacks on Saturday. There were air alerts throughout the country at times. It was the first major Russian attack of this kind since the turn of the year. The presidential administration in Kyiv has released photos of the building in ruins. The head of the presidential office, Andriy Yermak, was appalled: “Russians are terrorists who will be punished for everything. Everyone – without exception.” He said that the anti-aircraft and air force were doing their job. “We will fight back.” The enemy does not change tactics and continues to strike civilian infrastructure.

Selenskyj is again demanding more weapons from Western allies

After the new Russian rocket attacks, the Ukrainian leadership has demanded more weapons from the West. The terror can be stopped with Western weapons, which the Ukrainian army is waiting for, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in his video message every evening on Saturday. He had previously thanked Great Britain, which wants to be the first country to deliver western main battle tanks to Ukraine. This is a signal for other partners of Ukraine to do the same.
