Ukrainians apparently conquer Russian turtle shell for the first time

In recent weeks, Russian turtle tanks have caused problems for Ukraine. Now a video from the Internet shows that a Ukrainian unit has apparently captured such a tank for the first time.

The Ukrainian military has apparently captured a roadworthy turtle tank belonging to the Russian armed forces for the first time. Two crew members were also taken prisoner. This is suggested by images from the 22nd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces.
A widely circulated online Video of the unit shows how a Russian turtle tank is attacked by a drone with grenades. Then Ukrainian soldiers climb into the tank and tie up the crew. They then set the modified vehicle, a T-62 according to the brigade, in motion again. A photo taken later shows four Ukrainian soldiers in front of the steel colossus. Where and when the photos were taken is not known. According to Western observers, elements of the 22nd Mechanized Brigade are currently stationed near the village of Andriivka, south of Bakhmut.
First turtle shell spotted in April
The first Russian turtle tanks appeared in April near the small town of Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. Since then, new and improved versions have been sent to the front. The tracked vehicles owe their name to their unusual appearance. To provide protection against drone attacks, the tanks have a makeshift roof made of steel plates. Some models also have jammers and additional anti-drone cages. The steel roof is also sometimes used to transport Russian stormtroopers to the area of operations in a protected manner.
A major disadvantage of the turtle shell is the limited mobility of the main gun, as the turret can no longer be rotated due to the roof construction. In addition, the additional weight is likely to have a negative effect on mobility. At the end of April, images showed for the first time a Group attack by Russian turtle vehicles.
