Two Ukrainian women attacked near Nice say their attacker was Russian

This Tuesday, the Nice prosecutor’s office confirms that an investigation has been opened on the grounds of “aggravated violence” and specifies that the author “has not been arrested to date”.

Bruises and broken nose

The two women spent the night in the hospital with several bruises, and the older of the two had a broken nose. In the columns of the regional daily, his daughter tells. When she had just launched a video on a cell phone accompanied by Ukrainian music that she had received, a group of four people crossed paths with them.

“The lyrics of the song said: ‘The world would be better off without a Russian army’,” explains Alina. Everything would have gone very quickly. “One of the men ran into us. He hit me in the face, I fell on the ground and he kicked me. He then hit my mother three times,” said the 31-year-old. For her, no doubt, he was very Russian: “When he spoke, we understood”.

A “heinous incident”

The attack, the story of which was shared on social networks, notably caused Oleg Nikolenko to react. “The aggressors must be punished,” said the spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.

The Ukrainian Embassy in France, for its part, assured that it was “cooperating with the French authorities for a rapid investigation”, denouncing a “heinous incident”.
