two injured in a paragliding accident in the Hérault

Two people were injured on Wednesday in a paragliding accident in the Gardiole massif, in Frontignan (Hérault). The victims were quickly located using GPS coordinates, and taken care of by firefighters.

A man, seriously injured, was evacuated in absolute urgency to the Lapeyronie hospital, in Montpellier. A woman in her fifties, suffering from pain in her pelvis, was evacuated to hospital in Sète. Nothing is known about the circumstances of the accident, say the firefighters.

This is the second paragliding accident in a fortnight in the department: on April 17, a man in his fifties missed his landing and fell barely 200 meters from the busy A9 motorway, near Lespignan. Suffering from serious broken legs, the man was transported to the emergency room, where he was treated.
