Two cargo ships collided in the Baltic Sea – panorama

According to a media report, two cargo ships collided in the Baltic Sea. The incident occurred in the sea area between the Danish island of Bornholm and the southern Swedish coastal town of Ystad, reports the Swedish TV broadcaster SVT, citing the Swedish shipping authority.

One of the ships lies with the keel up in the water, a spokesman for the authority told the transmitter. “We don’t know exactly how it happened.” Lifeboats are looking for survivors, screams are said to have been heard from the water. At least two men went overboard, the coast guard said, according to media reports.

A vehicle with the name Karin Hoej sailed the Swedish newspaper Quickdraws according to the Danish flag, the other with the name Scot Carrier is registered in the UK. The Danish ship was on its way from Sweden to Denmark, the British one from Latvia to Great Britain.

The weather in the Baltic Sea was “not optimal” this morning, quoted Quickdraws the spokesman for the shipping authority. Although it is not particularly windy, it is dark and the water is very cold.
