The family dispute could have turned into a drama in the night from Saturday to Sunday in Toulouse. Shortly before 1 a.m., the police were warned that a car had fallen into the
Canal du Midi, near the Port de l’Embouchure.

On the spot, the car was indeed totally submerged in the icy water, but its occupants – two men in the front at the time of the accident and a woman in the rear – were fortunately able to extricate themselves from it in time. It soon became apparent that the two men, two brothers aged 43 and 49, were drunk.

“Endangering the lives of others”

While in police custody, they explained that they were arguing at the time of the dive and that the eldest, then a passenger, grabbed and turned the wheel in anger.

The latter will also appear soon before the criminal court for “endangering the lives of others”. His youngest is the subject of a composition for driving under the influence of alcohol.
