For a long time, politicians were not interested in the misery of these animals. The federal government now wants to introduce minimum rules for the first time. This not only helps the animals, but also some owners.

A visit to the farm or the petting zoo is a popular excursion, especially for many young families. Chickens, turkeys and ducks run through lush meadows, scratching and pecking. Pigs, goats and sheep can even be fed and stroked. The reality of most animals, whose meat later ends up on the plate, is of course different. In turkey houses, the situation is usually particularly precarious.
