FC Bayern meets RB Leipzig on Saturday evening, and the Munich team cannot afford to slip up. On Friday, Thomas Tuchel will speak at the matchday PK about the topics related to the game.

Update, 2:03 p.m .: The press conference is over after this question, tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. the last home game of the season against RB Leipzig continues.

Update, 2:03 p.m.: Manchester City threw Bayern out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals, and now the English have confidently beat Real Madrid in the final. Thomas Tuchel commented on this when asked. “I didn’t need it but it was confirmation that we were fighting at a high level with Man City. I still think we hooked them twice and we also won in-game stats – whether it was sprints, possession or intense runs – which not many teams can do. This was a demonstration of her strength and clarity. (…) We don’t need to be ashamed that we were eliminated.”

FC-Bayern-PK: Tuchel does not let himself be looked at in the squad planning – “Nice try”

Update, 2:00 p.m.: Tuchel is asked about the planning of the squad, explicitly after a “six edge”. The coach replies with a laugh: “Nice try. But we will not make the squad planning public, nor the supposed wishes of the coach. I have to disappoint you.”

Update, 1:58 p.m.: Arjen Robben paid a visit to FC Bayern on Friday and also spoke to Tuchel. “I tried to convince him for tomorrow. He wasn’t the problem, the DFL is the problem because he’s not registered. We’ll have a serious word with Kathleen Krüger (team manager, note) as to why there isn’t a loophole. It’s nice that he’s here. Just the aura, its clarity and mental strength, the hunger, but also the modesty – that’s very impressive. Therefore he is more than welcome. Every footballer can learn a lesson from him,” said Tuchel, ennobling the ex-Bayern professional.

Update, 1:55 p.m.: How does Tuchel see Benjamin Pavard and where does he see his best position – in central defense or as a full-back? “I am very happy to coach him. He is strong, consistent, solid and of a high standard. He can play both outside and inside, I can also understand that he likes to play as a central defender. But I think his best position is in the back three, ”says Tuchel about the French. The 27-year-old’s confidence also impresses the coach, although without revealing where Pavard will play tomorrow.

Thomas Tuchel raves about Joao Cancelo at PK: “I love him”

Update, 1:51 p.m.: A Hungarian journalist wants to know how Tuchel prepares his team for Dominik Szoboszlai. “We will pay special attention to him, we expect him in the starting XI. His technical skills are very high, like Dani Olmo. (…) Szoboszlai is a player who prepares goals and creates dangerous scenes. But we have to watch out for all the many strikers, ”Tuchel answers the question in detail.

Update, 1:48 p.m.: Will Leon Goretzka start against Leipzig? “Leon always has chances to play, but last time we opted for the more offensive variant. We opted for Thomas Müller against Schalke – because of the many inquiries (laughs). Also because Thomas appears in the penalty area more often than Ryan Gravenberch. What’s good is the way Leon is currently training. Ryan and Leon weren’t there recently, so we have to make a tactical and personal decision. But we won’t reveal them today.”

Update, 1:45 p.m.: What about Joao Cancelo’s future? “We haven’t had the conversation yet, but I have the impression that he feels very comfortable. In the end, however, all parties are included in a loan transaction. This has not yet been decided and has not yet been discussed. But I love him, his qualities and his desire to train is unique. I think he still has room to be part of the team, but in terms of his heart and his desire and his potential, it’s absolutely great,” said Tuchel.

FC Bayern press conference live today: Tuchel talks about staff and clarifies the goalkeeper question

Update, 1:42 p.m.: How about the staff? “Lucas and Manu are missing, Phonzie is missing, of course. Choupo can’t make it for tomorrow either. Everyone else has been back in training and fully operational,” he says. So nothing stands in the way of Yann Sommer playing, and Josip Stanisic should also be back in the squad.

Update, 1:39 p.m.: How does Tuchel plan with Lucas Hernández? “I can’t wait for him to be on the pitch. It is very impressive every day how professionally he does it. And the way he is there: he always has a smile on his face and is always positive. He infects others with his personality, even if he has been in a modest situation for many months. For me, he is a clear leader,” says the coach.

Update, 1:37 p.m.: It would be the first German championship for Tuchel. Would he have a problem with possibly celebrating them on the couch? “I would have no problem at all with how that happens. The main thing is that it happens.”

FC Bayern-PK in the live ticker: Tuchel warns of “difficult opponent” Leipzig

Update, 1:35 p.m.: What is the route towards Leipzig? “We know Leipzig’s strengths, the style is clear. There are four switching players, usually with two strikers and two tens. It’s extremely important if we want to control the game to pay attention and prevent counterattacks. If we attack aggressively in the last zone, we have to protect ourselves and close spaces before counterattacks arise.” Tuchel relies on “diligent work from behind” coupled with a good occupation of the penalty area – “we have to get the mix right”.

Update, 1:33 p.m.: The PK starts with the question of the championship final sprint and the possible nervousness of the team. “It’s not routine for us, it may look like it because of the number of titles, but the table situation is not routine. The recipe is to focus on what we can influence. Our attitude, our passion but also our mood. We have a tough opponent in front of us,” was Tuchel’s answer. “The only thing that counts for us is tomorrow’s win,” he adds.

Update, 1:25 p.m.: In a few minutes, Thomas Tuchel will step up to the microphone, and the Bayern coach will answer questions from press representatives at the media round before the Leipzig game.

Update from May 19, 1:05 p.m.: About half an hour until the start of the press conference with Thomas Tuchel. Will the coach also comment on the goalkeeper question? Yann Sommer was recently absent from training with gastrointestinal problems, and the head coach will probably reveal from 1.30 p.m. whether he will be fit.

FC Bayern PK live today: Tuchel speaks before the top game on Saturday against Leipzig

First report from May 19:

Munich – The showdown of the championship fight in the Bundesliga could already be decided this weekend. FC Bayern Munich would have to win their game against RB Leipzig and BVB would have to lose in Augsburg on Sunday. At the moment, the two title contenders are only separated by one point. But for that the record champion would have to crack the Saxons first.

FC Bayern press conference with Thomas Tuchel in the live ticker today: Who is out with the record champions?

Leipzig is currently only eight points behind Bayern in third place and wants to qualify for the Champions League with a win, even if this could also be achieved in other ways. Nonetheless, Marco Rose’s team is in good spirits – they’ve won the last three games – and could pose a threat to Bayern Munich.

Bayern also go into the top game with three wins in a row. With which staff, Thomas Tuchel will probably announce during the press round. The Munich team is currently having to cope with a few failures. First-choice goalkeeper Yann Sommer did not train recently, his use seems questionable. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (knee joint problems), Alphonso Davies (muscle bundle injury) and Josip Stanisic (rehabilitation after adductor injury) are probably absent, along with the two long-term injured Manuel Neuer and Lucas Hernández.

FC Bayern: PK with Thomas Tuchel in the live ticker – RB Leipzig could heat up the title race

So Bayern fans will hope that Tuchel has no more bad news to announce on Friday afternoon. Further failures in the final sprint could be decisive, Bayern shouldn’t allow themselves any more slips at this stage of the season, otherwise Borussia Dortmund could overtake them on Sunday. BVB, on the other hand, have to keep their fingers crossed for Leipzig on Saturday, even a draw would fundamentally change the starting position in the title race. (ajr)
